    • N.E.W. PLASTICS RECEIVES 28TH ANNUAL EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS AWARD AT CHAMBER’S ANNUAL DINNER Green Bay, Wis.- (Oct. 21, 2014) – N.E.W. Plastics Corp. was named the recipient of the 2014 Excellence in Business Award by Advance, the economic development branch of the Greater Green Bay Chamber, at the Chamber’s annual dinner tonight. N.E.W. exemplifies the outstanding growth, significant achievements in innovation and passionate community involvement that are among the award’s criteria. The company has been a leader in its field since its founder began exploring plastic recycling more than 45 years ago. It has experienced remarkable growth – including bottom-line results - in the past two years, even in the face of tough economic conditions. This includes strong sales growth of 10 percent from fiscal year 2012 to 2013, and projected 5 percent growth from 2013 to fiscal year 2014. And they’ve done this while simultaneously making several significant investments in their infrastructure, including more than $1.5 million on equipment alone. The company has made numerous efforts to compete aggressively in the market and maintain a high degree of customer satisfaction and confidence. This includes pursuing numerous certifications including Global Food Safety Initiative standard. This global, retailer-driven program that seeks continuous improvement isn’t a requirement, but something this company has chosen to pursue to give customers peace of mind. The company has undergone many internal transformations in the past few years but has remained rooted in its community activities. This has included partnering with local high schools to present a business simulation game, working with a building trades class at a local high school to help to build an awards and trophy display case, and offering job shadowing opportunities for students. The company even has a community team that encourages staff to share of their time, talents and treasures. Finally, on the innovative forefront, this business has made many structural and business direction investments with the long term in mind. This includes launching an engineered systems team that’s committed to product innovation and process improvement. And they’re working on expanding sales with key OEMs, areas of nutrition-based products and potential business relationships with local niche companies.
